Syria's UN ambassador condemned Israel's military operations on Syrian soil during an address to the UN's Sixth Committee, demanding immediate withdrawal from what Damascus describes as occupied territories.
Ibrahim Olabi told the committee that Israeli actions "undermine state efforts to restore security, stability, and combat terrorism," and create conditions that foster extremism. He called for an immediate halt to the attacks and a full Israeli withdrawal.
The complaint follows a pattern of Israeli incursions into Syrian territory since the fall of the Assad regime in late 2024. The Syrian government has documented numerous cross-border operations, detentions and strikes. On Monday morning, the Israeli army killed a man in southern Syria during ongoing military raids, according to the statement.
Israel has not issued a public response to the ambassador's remarks. The UN Sixth Committee handles legal matters and humanitarian issues.
